So! The Summer Pledge/Noman split 7″ (WBR 007) test presses are in. Our good friend and engineer extraordinaire, Andrew Davis, not only recorded both of these songs at the now deceased Roschambo Studio, but also played with The Summer Pledge on the A side. WBR 007 will be released on October 10th at The Old Miami, doubling as a tour kickoff show for The Summer Pledge. Word up.

Hey all,
Thanks again to everyone saying what’s up to us at Dally in the Alley! We were so nervous…Just a heads up to check out another street fair that is not corporate sponsored is the DIY Street Fair in Ferndale. Noman and The Summer Pledge will both be there. TSP plays at midnight at the Lovin Touch on Friday night and Noman plays Saturday night at 1am also at the bar. We’re gonna be there all weekend taking advantage of the non-boring sounds and sights of Copper Theives, Legendary Creatures, Duende, The Beggars, Bars of Gold, Just Boyz and Electric Six. Uhhh don’t drink and drive, take the bus back to Detroit, it’s only two bucks and it’s fuuuuun. See ya.

There have been rumors that I,Crime is no longer a band anymore… so we just wanted to spread the good news that this is in fact not true!
I,Crime will be playing “Dally In The Alley” in Detroit’s Cass Corridor on Saturday, September 10th. You’ll find them rocking the fuck out on The Forest stage @ 10 pm and Noman on the same stage @ 7pm. The Dally is a free outdoor festival with tons of awesome vendors, artists and musicians…
Hope to see you there~!

OK so…Woodbridge Records is not cool with the business practices of General Motors. We did take a risk and decide that it would be OK to work with the Discovery Channel on the “Detroit in Overdrive” because we figured, as far as major media outlets go, Discovery is the best option on TV and at least educational merit is in consideration over there. We also felt a little pressured by our peers in the bands of the label to at least sell a few records while we’re still young. WR and our friends are choosy in who we associate with and are aware that others may want to co-opt our artistic currency. To be fair we didn’t really grill the producers about how the show was being presented or sponsored, we just heard “documentary on the Discovery Channel” and thought “Kickass”. Next thing we know, there’s our faces on TV and “brought to you by General Motors” following. It was foolish of us not to consider the possibility of a creepy corporate enterprise with a saviour complex to be at the head of the table. Let it be known, to many the “Renaissance Center” is the omnipresent, looming reminder that as long as automobiles are bought and sold, there will have to be gasoline, therefor there will be endless war and slaughter worldwide until all that gas is burned up. It is also sad to realize that our relationships can be defined by whatever “Important Business Decisions” they are making up in their towers. GM will have us believe they are at the forefront of “Going Green” or being responsible for the “Detroit Renaissance”. When in reality this “Television Event” is an opportunity for GM to throw some dollars around and make it appear that GM is on board with different grassroots organizations and a supporter of all the wild exciting art. Bullshit. This is neo-advertising, co-opting amazing people’s stories of self-empowerment so that stock brokers and stock holders can sleep a little better at night. Detroit’s “Clean Slate” would not exist had the auto companies continued to even stick around. Alleged American-made automobiles are largely made in countries where the labor base is fairly easy to exploit and maybe finished up in an American factory by people hired in for cheap to replace our parents and grandparents that they just shit-canned.
So yeah, shame on us, right? That’s what happens when ya try and play their game. It’s their game.
